The Longing

I absolutely love creating Visio Divina experiences for you! When God gives me an idea or theme to paint on, I often spend time looking at stock images online to see what sparks my mind with new insights. At home in India, I developed this series of images as a form of virtual participation, while my husband Jose attended a conference in Canada called “The Longing.” I had just finished slowly reading Befriending Our Desires by Philip Sheldrake. Desires? Longings? What does this have to do with life and faith? We tend to think we need to squash those, but I invite you to consider that living toward your deepest longing might be the path toward abundant life that God promises. Please take your time and go slowly through this Visio Divina based on Romans 8:19-25, looking at the images, meditating on the verses included. I’d love to hear any thoughts that came to you or emotions that arose.

The question to consider: What do you want?

Waiting

The creation waits with eager longing for the sons of God to be revealed.

Wanting

We groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption, the redemption of our bodies.

Portals of Hope

For in this hope we are saved.

Wall or Window?

But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it with patience.
