Give Your Self Away

Hello my friends, I want to share something special with you. This painting is hot off the press! It always thrills me when God places an idea for a painting in my heart. When I found out I would be able to attend a worship gathering in Montreal called “The Longing” with my husband Jose, I immediately felt like I would NOT have an idea to paint. But sure enough, when I was relaxing and not trying too hard, and idea popped into my head. Due to the busyness of life, I had over a month to meditation on and plan out the idea before I even touched the watercolor paper. Then I had my very first experience of painting live, along with some other artist friends, during the worship time. It is hard for me to believe this took place!

In this Visio Divina experience that explores the nature of self, I invite you to consider what thoughts the sequence of images stirs in you. To get the most out of the time, please take your time, not rushing forward to see the final image, but letting your mind wander around each image.

What does the progression symbolize for you in your life? How do these images speak to the question of identity purpose?

I’d love to hear your thoughts!

And you were dead in the tresspasses and sins…

Ephesians 2:1

So you also must consider yourselfs dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus.

Romans 6:11

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.

2 Corinthians 1:4

And the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations.

This is not my favorite painting. Not even close to my favorite. In fact, I would say that I don’t like it. I dislike the colors, especially the center part, which looks like the colors used in the Candy Land board game I played as a child. Yet, I’ve learned so much...
